Diamond Bridal Set Price in India: What a Real Set Costs

The short answer

A real diamond bridal set price in India runs from about ₹1.2 lakh for a light 14K necklace set to ₹3 to ₹5 lakh for mid-weight 14K pieces, while heavy 18K bridal sets with 28 carats list above ₹1.8 crore, at the time of writing. Gold weight, carats, stone origin, making and 3% GST set the total.

Search for a diamond bridal set with price and the results run from a few hundred rupees to several lakh, because imitation sets and real diamond sets are listed side by side. This guide is about real diamond sets, natural or lab-grown, and it does what price lists do not: it shows where the money goes in each piece, how to split a fixed budget across the wedding functions, and what to give up first. American diamond, which is cubic zirconia, is a different material and is not priced here.

How much does a diamond bridal set cost in India?

At the time of writing, natural diamond bridal pieces at one national jeweller cost from about ₹1.2 lakh for a light 14K necklace set to about ₹4.8 lakh for a mid-weight 14K necklace online, and its heavy 18K bridal sets with about 28 carats were listed, find in store, above ₹1.8 crore. We opened itemised product pages on the jeweller's website on 22 October 2026. Prices include 3% GST and any Diwali discount the site applied.

Piece (natural diamonds, observed October 2026) Gold Diamonds Listed price
Light necklace set 14K, 6.5 g gross 0.37 ct About ₹1.19 lakh, after 20% off stone charges
Necklace set with sapphires 14K, 17.6 g 1.02 ct About ₹3.32 lakh, after 25% off stone charges
Necklace with an opal centre 14K, 25.6 g 1.27 ct, 239 stones About ₹4.78 lakh
Drop earrings, pair 14K, 7.3 g 2.09 ct About ₹3.35 lakh, after 25% off stone charges
Bangle, single 18K, 14.7 g 0.41 ct About ₹2.57 lakh, after 25% off stone charges
Heavy bridal necklace set 18K 28.2 ct About ₹1.83 crore, indicative, find in store

The listings used small stones described by a colour range and a clarity grade (the opal necklace was G to H colour and I2 clarity); better grades cost more. Add a pair of bangles and the earrings to the mid-weight necklace set and a natural diamond set quickly passes ₹10 lakh. If the bride's set also includes the engagement ring, our guide to how much an engagement ring should cost in India covers that budget separately.

Where does the money go in a diamond bridal set?

In Indian bridal designs, gold is often the largest part of the price, not the diamonds. Itemised breakups published on four of the pieces above show the split, after the stone discount where one applied.

Piece Gold Diamonds and other stones Making GST
Bangle, 18K, 14.7 g, 0.41 ct 62% 14% 21% 3%
Necklace with opal, 14K, 25.6 g, 1.27 ct 45% 33% 19% 3%
Necklace set with sapphires, 14K, 17.6 g, 1.02 ct 45% 30% 22% 3%
Drop earrings, 14K, 7.3 g, 2.09 ct 19% 54% 25% 3%

Three lessons follow. Gold weight is the first thing to check on any quote, because two necklaces with similar diamonds can carry very different weights of gold. Making charges run about a fifth of the pre-tax price even on small pieces. And the diamonds in these listings were costed at about ₹1.15 lakh per carat for small stones before the discount, which is where lab-grown stones change the picture. Our guide to gold making charges explains how that line is calculated.

How to budget a bridal set by function

Spend on the functions where diamonds will be seen and the pieces that will be worn again; keep the rest light or borrowed. Customs differ between communities and families, so treat this as a starting point to adjust with the family.

Function Pieces commonly worn Where diamonds earn their cost
Ring ceremony or engagement Ring, earrings, a light necklace The ring, worn daily afterwards
Mehendi and haldi Often floral, pearl or light pieces Little need for diamonds
Sangeet Statement earrings, a light necklace or none Earrings that can be worn again
Wedding ceremony The heaviest set, often with family gold, polki or kundan, and the mangalsutra where customary A diamond necklace if the family's look is diamond; many wear gold here
Reception Diamond necklace and earrings, a bangle The necklace set, the most visible diamond pieces
After the wedding Studs, a bangle, rings, the mangalsutra Everything worn weekly

The pattern most budgets miss is that the wedding ceremony itself often belongs to family gold, while the reception and the years after are where diamonds are seen most.

A worked budget: ₹10 lakh, natural or lab-grown

On a fixed budget, put most of the money into the necklace and earrings, accept one diamond bangle rather than a pair, and reuse a family tikka. The table splits ₹10 lakh and shows what each amount bought in the listings we checked in October 2026. It is an illustration of scale, not a quote.

Piece Share Amount Natural diamonds bought Lab-grown diamonds bought
Necklace or necklace set 40% ₹4 lakh A 14K necklace set of about 18 g with about 1 ct and sapphires, at about ₹3.32 lakh; a 14K necklace of about 26 g with 1.27 ct was just over, at ₹4.78 lakh A 14K tennis necklace with 3.5 ct at about ₹3.21 lakh, with change left over
Earrings 25% ₹2.5 lakh A lighter pair than the 14K drops with about 2 ct, which were listed at about ₹3.35 lakh 18K statement earrings with about 5 ct, at about ₹2.01 lakh
One bangle 25% ₹2.5 lakh Not quite one 18K bangle of about 15 g with 0.41 ct, listed at about ₹2.57 lakh Not quite one 14K bangle of about 16 g with 1.9 ct, listed at about ₹2.97 lakh
Margin 10% ₹1 lakh Alterations, resizing, reports, insurance and price movement The same
Maang tikka 0% Nil Reuse or borrow a family piece The same

Lab-grown stones multiply the diamond in the necklace and earrings several times over, but barely change the bangle, because the bangle's price is mostly gold. Our guide to lab-grown diamond bridal jewellery sets out lab-grown prices piece by piece.

What to cut first when the set costs too much

Cut gold weight and piece count before you cut diamond quality you can see; never cut setting security or paperwork. This is the order we would follow.

  1. Gold weight. Ask for the weight in grams of each piece. A 26 g necklace and a 6.5 g necklace set both read as a diamond necklace in photographs. Open-backed and pierced designs, and 14K rather than 18K for heavy pieces, bring weight and cost down.
  2. Piece count. Wear one diamond bangle among family gold bangles, and reuse a family tikka or nath where custom allows.
  3. Grades you cannot see. Small stones of I to J colour and SI clarity look very close to G to H once set; compare them side by side.
  4. Making-heavy small pieces. Drop earrings in the listings we checked carried making charges of about a fifth of their pre-tax price, and small, detailed pieces such as a tikka carry a higher share of making for the gold and stones you get.
  5. Stone origin, where the family agrees. Lab-grown stones save most in the necklace and earrings.

Keep: secure settings, a BIS hallmark with a six-digit HUID on the gold, and an itemised invoice that names natural or laboratory-grown stones.

How to read a diamond bridal set quote

A fair quote shows gold purity and weight, diamond weight, type and grade, making charges, any discount and 3% GST as separate lines. If one quote will not break down, ask until it does.

  • GST. Jewellery of precious metal, plain or set with stones, is listed at 3% under heading 7113 in CBIC's GST rate notification, charged on the full value including making.
  • Making. In the itemised listings we checked, making ran from about 20% to 22% of the pre-tax price.
  • Discounts. Offers of 20% to 25% off stone value at a national jeweller, and 30% off diamonds with making charges waived at lab-grown brands, were running for Diwali. They change the real price, so compare after discount.
  • Pairs. Check whether bangles and earrings are priced singly or in pairs.
  • Hallmark. The Bureau of Indian Standards describes the gold hallmark as three parts: the BIS mark, the purity and a six-digit HUID, which can be checked in the BIS Care app.

How AXIOM approaches this

A commissioned set lets you decide where the budget goes, piece by piece. AXIOM makes bridal sets as bespoke commissions at the Bharat Diamond Bourse in Mumbai, with natural or lab-grown diamonds chosen with you and every piece in 14K or 18K gold, and you see design options at every stage and the design on a model before anything is made. A full set needs its timing agreed per order, and the Diwali weeks are the busiest, so start early through our contact page.

The practical takeaway

Set the budget from savings, then spend it by function: the necklace and earrings that will be seen at the reception and worn afterwards come first, one diamond bangle is enough, and the ceremony can lean on family gold. Compare quotes on gold grams, carats, grade, making and discount, not on photographs.

Questions people ask

How much does a bridal diamond set cost?

At the time of writing, natural diamond necklace sets at one national jeweller started around ₹1.2 lakh for light 14K designs, mid-weight 14K necklaces and sets were ₹3.3 to ₹4.8 lakh, and heavy 18K bridal sets with about 28 carats were listed above ₹1.8 crore. A pair of diamond earrings or a single bangle added ₹2.5 to ₹3.5 lakh each. A set with lab-grown stones costs less, mainly on the stone-heavy pieces.

What is a good bridal jewellery budget?

There is no correct figure. Start from what you can pay without borrowing, list the pieces she will actually wear, and split the money by how often each will be worn after the wedding. Keep about a tenth aside for alterations, resizing, reports and insurance.

Is GST charged on making charges for jewellery?

Yes. On a jeweller's retail invoice, GST on jewellery is 3% of the full value of the finished piece, which includes the gold, the stones and the making charges. Ask for each line to be shown separately so you can check the tax on the total.

Are diamond bangles priced per piece or per pair?

Usually per piece. Many Indian jewellers' websites list a diamond bangle singly, so a pair costs about twice the price shown. Check the listing or ask, because it is the easiest way to underestimate a bridal budget.

Why do two diamond necklace sets that look similar cost so differently?

Because the price is the sum of gold weight, diamond carat and grade, making charges and tax, and photographs show none of these. A heavier gold design, more carats, better colour and clarity, natural rather than lab-grown stones, or no discount on making can each add lakhs.

Can I use old family gold towards a diamond bridal set?

Often, yes. Many jewellers accept old gold in exchange, valued by its weight and purity at the day's rate, sometimes with a deduction. Making charges paid on the old pieces are not recovered. Get the valuation in writing before the old gold is melted.
