International Men's Day is newer to Indian offices and homes than Father's Day, and most gift lists for it are either gold-led catalogues or generic lists of mugs and wallets. Neither helps much when you are choosing for a particular man on a particular budget. This guide sorts Men's Day gifts by relationship and by price, from a ₹100 team gesture to a piece of fine jewellery.
It is written for wives and partners, children buying for a father, and anyone organising something for male colleagues at work. One principle runs through all of it: the day is about men's wellbeing and the men who matter to us, so the best gift says that plainly.
When is International Men's Day 2026?
International Men's Day falls on 19 November every year; in 2026 that is a Thursday. According to its official site, the day celebrates the positive value men bring to the world, their families and communities, highlights positive role models and raises awareness of men's wellbeing. The theme for 2026 is "The Future is Everyone".
The organisers' history of the day records that it was founded in 1999 by Dr Jerome Teelucksingh in Trinidad and Tobago, and first celebrated in India in 2007, pioneered by the men's rights advocate Uma Challa. Some gift pages give an earlier date, which refers to short-lived February observances in the early 1990s. It is not a United Nations day: formal recognition on the UN calendar is one of the organisers' own goals for 2026.
Because it is a weekday, most offices mark it during working hours, and families give personal gifts in the evening or over the weekend. If the gift is engraved, made to order or coming by courier, plan backwards from the date, not forwards from the week before.
Men's Day gift ideas by relationship
Match the gift to the relationship first, then to the budget. The table gives one strong idea and one safe alternative for each.
| For | Strong idea | Safe alternative | Avoid |
|---|---|---|---|
| Husband | A ring, bracelet or pendant in solid metal, chosen to his style | A shared experience: a dinner, a trip, a match | Anything that implies he needs fixing |
| Boyfriend | A keychain or slim bracelet he can wear without thinking | A book or record he has mentioned | A ring, unless you have talked about what it means |
| Father | A piece that marks family, such as an engraved keychain or pendant | A health check-up package booked for him | Clothes in the wrong size |
| Brother | Something useful for his commute: keychain, wallet, card holder | Tickets to something you do together | Jokes that only land in the group chat |
| Male boss | A handwritten note signed by the team | A shared lunch or a plant for his office | Expensive personal gifts |
| Office colleagues | A team breakfast or a note for each person | Small edible gifts | Anything personal or costly |
Men's Day gift ideas for office colleagues
For colleagues, aim for something shared, sincere and cheap. Office gifts on Men's Day work best as a gesture from the team, not a set of individual presents, and most companies have gift policies that cap value.
| Budget per person | Ideas that work |
|---|---|
| Under ₹100 | A handwritten note for each person; sweets, fruit or snacks for the team table |
| ₹100 to ₹500 | A desk plant, a quality pen, a coffee voucher, a pooled team breakfast |
| ₹500 to ₹1,500 | A notebook, a card holder, a water bottle, a book chosen for each person |
| Group gift for a manager | Pool for one good item, with a card signed by everyone |
Because the day is meant to focus on men's health, a practical touch can be a lunchtime walk, a short wellbeing session or a healthy team breakfast. It costs little and fits the day better than another mug. For gifts to clients and senior colleagues, our guide to corporate gifts for men covers etiquette and limits.
Men's Day gift for a husband or boyfriend
For a partner, give something personal that he will use every day. Jewellery works well when it is simple, solid and sized correctly; it lasts long after the day itself.
- Keychain. The easiest piece of "jewellery" for a man who wears none. He uses it daily without changing how he dresses.
- Slim bracelet. A chain or a narrow kada sits alongside a watch and suits office wear.
- Ring. Personal, but check his size and what a ring will signal before you choose one.
- Pendant. Best when it carries meaning: an initial, a date, a faith symbol he already wears.
- Experience. A shared day out, if he values time over things.
If he rarely wears jewellery, start small; our guide to a gift for a husband who doesn't wear jewellery explains which pieces cross that line most easily.
Men's Day gift for a father
For a father, the strongest gifts mark family or look after his health. An engraved keychain or pendant with the children's initials, or a booked health check-up with a note explaining why, suits the day's purpose better than another shirt.
Older men often prefer one good thing to several small ones. If he wears a watch, match any jewellery to its metal colour: steel and white metal with silver, yellow gold with gold. Our gift for father guide covers jewellery choices for fathers in more detail.
Best Men's Day gifts by budget
| Budget | For a partner or family member | What you are paying for |
|---|---|---|
| Under ₹500 | Handwritten letter, favourite food, a book | Thought, not materials |
| ₹500 to ₹2,000 | Leather card holder, grooming kit, plant, framed photo | Useful everyday items |
| ₹2,000 to ₹10,000 | Watch strap, quality wallet, sports gear, an experience | Better materials and brands |
| ₹10,000 to ₹25,000 | A solid silver keychain, lapel pin, stud, slim ring or bracelet | Precious metal and hand finishing |
| Above ₹25,000 | Diamond-set rings, bracelets and pendants | Stones, weight and craftsmanship |
Jewellery is honest about where the money goes: metal weight, making and stones. Below about ₹10,000, solid silver jewellery for men is usually small and plain, and much of what is sold as silver at that price is plated; unless you can check the 925 stamp and weight, a well-made non-jewellery gift is the safer choice.
Men's Day gifts to avoid
Some gifts send the wrong message on a day meant to value men.
- Gifts that imply he needs fixing. Hair-loss kits, weight-loss gadgets and self-help titles land badly unless he asked for them.
- Guessed sizes. A ring or kada in the wrong size is a gift he cannot wear. Measure one he already owns, or choose a keychain, pendant or open cuff.
- Personal gifts at work. Fragrance, clothing and jewellery are too personal for colleagues and can breach office gift policies.
- Non-returnable surprises. Engraved and made-to-order pieces are usually non-returnable, so check the seller's policy before you personalise anything.
- One more novelty item. Joke mugs and slogan T-shirts are forgotten by December.
How to time a Men's Day gift
Work backwards from 19 November. Off-the-shelf gifts can be bought in the week before; anything engraved, sized or made to order needs weeks, and the fortnight after Diwali is a busy one for couriers.
- Decide on the gift by the end of October.
- Check his size, if it is a ring or a kada, by measuring a piece he already wears.
- Order made-to-order or engraved pieces in the last week of October at the latest, and confirm timing with the maker.
- Write the note. It is the part he will keep.
How AXIOM approaches this
AXIOM's pieces are priced as fine jewellery: they are made to order, mostly in solid 925 sterling silver set with diamonds, at the Bharat Diamond Bourse in Mumbai. Published prices start at ₹4,500 for a silver rakhi, and most rings, bracelets and pendants cost well above office gift limits, which makes them gifts for a husband, father or brother rather than colleagues. The Keystone Keychain, in 925 silver with lab-grown white diamonds, is from ₹18,600 at the time of writing, and our gifts under ₹25,000 gather the lower-priced pieces. Dispatch takes 15 to 21 days, so order early and confirm timing through our contact page before you count on 19 November.
The practical takeaway
Choose by relationship first. For colleagues, keep it shared, small and sincere; for a partner or father, choose one personal thing he will use every day and add a note that says why. If the gift is made to order, decide now: the calendar, not the catalogue, is what usually goes wrong.
